Insider tips

  • Treat Manteo like a walkable day town, not a beach town-the charm is the waterfront boardwalk, downtown shops, and historic feel, so plan time to wander instead of rushing through.
  • There is no ocean access in Manteo, only soundside. Water is calm, shallow, and warmer than the ocean.
  • Manteo is a quaint and cozy little town that you will fall in love with!
